Motion Design
Betmiga is a prescription treatment for adults living with Overactive Bladder (OAB), helping to manage symptoms including urinary urgency, increased frequency, and urge incontinence. Astellas commissioned a patient education video to explain how to accurately complete a bladder diary before a consultation with a healthcare professional. The animation was designed to play in urology clinic waiting rooms, providing patients with clear, accessible guidance while they waited for their appointment.
Brief
The objective was to create a simple, silent 2D motion graphics video that could be understood by viewers of all ages without relying on narration or music. Information needed to be communicated entirely through visual storytelling and on-screen text.
To accommodate a limited production budget, the animation was produced in Adobe After Effects, using minimal yet engaging motion design techniques. The client also requested two visual concepts featuring a gender-neutral, ageless character, with one direction exploring a hand-drawn silhouette rather than a traditional illustrated character.
My Role
I was responsible for the animation and motion design of the storyboard, transforming static concepts into a clear, engaging educational experience. Working in Adobe After Effects, I focused on creating smooth transitions, purposeful pacing, and intuitive visual cues that guided viewers through each step of completing the bladder diary.
The challenge was to communicate medical information using motion alone, ensuring the animation remained easy to follow, accessible, and engaging without the support of voiceover or sound effects.
